We have all heard that saying in one form or another.
When you think of our dreams or our life goals, how do you VISUALIZE them? Are they more of wishes or hopes-OR-do you have steps in place to GET to where you want to be??!?!
I was sound asleep the other night and I woke up in the middle of what felt like a good dream (I cannot remember the specifics of the dream itself, but I awoke in such a GOOD MOOD-it was a perfect way to start the day.).
It got me thinking...... If we are in the middle of a GOOD DREAM, shouldn't we SEE IT THROUGH?!?!
If you were dreaming of pitching a perfect game, shouldn't you see it through until the 27th out is recorded (how many no hitters/perfect games have been lost after the FIRST 26 OUTS were recorded?!?! Quite a few. We need to see our dreams/visions/goals THROUGH TO COMPLETION.
If you have already visualized meeting your goals, they will be much easier to achieve because you have already seen them through IN YOUR MIND!
It is a great first step to getting where you want to be....

What's Luck Got To Do With It?
I am sure at some point in any given day, you hear someone say "YOU ARE SO LUCKY."
What is LUCK? Is it carrying a four leaf clover or a rabbit's foot or some other trinket with us wherever we go?
I don't think so. I think We MAKE our OWN luck.
Luck is nothing more than a combination of PREPARATION (and EFFORT or SWEAT EQUITY) and OPPORTUNITY.
And if you are constantly telling other people HOW LUCKY they are---look in the mirror and ask yourself what portion of the "LUCK EQUATION" do you need to change. Are you ILL-prepared OR are you WELL-prepared for your daily activities? Do you give it 100% EFFORT at all you do OR do you "sleepwalk" through your day? Have you LOOKED for NEW opportunities that may be RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU?!? OR-are you constantly complaining AND MISSING out on what could be your "big break?"
PLEASE REMEMBER:
Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
This quote has many different "fathers." You can read more about it here: http://quoteinvestigator.com/2013/01/10/watch-your-thoughts/
Change your "luck" today and it may be the key to opening new doors you never thought imaginable.

Stress Leading to DIS-STRESS
For many of us, no wait-scratch that, ALL of us, stress is a part of every day life. We have daily stressors that we have to "deal with" and there are stressors that hit us out of the blue.
For example, the holidays for many-is a STRESSFUL time (isn't that sad?!?!). A time that is supposed to be for loving and giving and for gratitude and appreciation is marred by worry and anxiety, and often, FEAR. (You know that terrible thing, FEAR-False Evidence Appearing Real).
A recent example would be this recent "Polar Vortex" (SCARY! What, they couldn't come up with some catchy "personalized" name for a meteorological event-like "Superstorm Sandy?) . The subzero temperatures spread throughout the country and many places were colder than ALASKA! It brought about more stress, anxiety, panic (did you see some of the pictures of the grocery store shelves?), and again, FEAR.
Think about what problems have arisen as a result of these frigid temperatures (and think of the stress leading to DIS-stress with our daily lives). Due to the very low temperatures (THE STRESS), many people have been left without electricity, heat, and even now, WATER. Pipes are bursting, windows are cracking, cars are stalling, etc., etc., etc. When we added stress to our "regular" environment (it is winter in NE Ohio), many unwanted effects occurred as a result-causing more STRESS for us and also causing more DIS-stress in our bodies and our ability to perform our daily activities!
The effects of these dangerously low temperatures persist even as the thermostat starts to rise. Now, this may be easier said than done-but I urge you, don't worry about the things YOU CANNOT CONTROL! It is only going to add to your stress levels and cause DIS-STRESS! Increased stress levels and negative stimuli lead to and can cause distress in our bodies. It can lead to many different ailments we experience, such as colds/viruses, aches, pains, sleep loss/disruption, changes in appetite, fatigue, lack of patience, "upset" stomach, headaches---just to name a few.
Often times, I see someone after they have injured themselves, whether it be at work or at home, or maybe in a car accident...and the response is often the same. "THIS COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT A WORSE TIME!"
Let's be honest-do you see any day on your calendar that you could "squeeze" in an accident/injury?
"Oh yeah, look I have some time on January 15th at 2pm to have that car accident...that will work for me."
It is NEVER a good time to have something like this happen! All we can do is deal with it after the event occurs and FIX THE ISSUE so that it does not affect us from living our lives the way WE ENJOY living them!
I insist that we be as PROACTIVE as we can be to minimize our stress and DIS-stress in our lives so that any DIS-ruption of our quality of living is short-lived as opposed to our lives being CUT SHORT due to a lack of taking better care of ourselves.
As I mentioned in my last submission, it is time to stop making RESOLUTIONS and start making COMMITMENTS to change our mindsets, our lifestyles, and our HEALTH!
These changes are SIMPLE (they really are!); they just aren't necessarily EASY!
However, we can start making these changes TODAY---
OR---
continue doing the same things we have been doing and EXPECT different results-which is the definition of INSANITY!
Start small, if need be....fix the little things you can change RIGHT NOW and get the ball rolling!

Chasing Your Dreams
Many of us start off the new year by "making resolutions."
MOST of us FAIL to make those resolutions our NEW HABITS.
Change your mindset....don't make RESOLUTIONS (leave that to the politicians, lol).
Make ROUTINE COMMITMENTS. When you COMMIT to something, you are more likely to STICK WITH IT!
So, whether it be a commitment to being a better parent or spouse, or changing you lifestyle-be sure to give it 100%.
A HUGE component to our daily lives should be a commitment to HEALTH and WELLNESS lifestyles.
As we see more and more changes occurring in "sick care," we must value and prioritize what a healthy lifestyle today means for all of us moving forward!
If you have not considered making some changes, I would like for you to consider some of the following:

As we see more and more changes occurring in "sick care," we must value and prioritize what a healthy lifestyle today means for all of us moving forward!
If you have not considered making some changes, I would like for you to consider some of the following:
- Get to bed EARLIER and get up EARLIER! Most of us are staying up later and not getting QUALITY, RESTFUL sleep. Get up and start your day BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE! That quiet time in the morning while "the rest of the world sleeps" is VALUABLE-make it productive and start your day off right! Remember, we ALL have 86,400 seconds each day. Make them count!
- EXERCISE. What a great way to stimulate your body and help it work more effectively and efficiently throughout your day. Add to this: READING and MEDITATION-get your MIND RIGHT so that you are not only physically stronger, but also MENTALLY STRONGER!
- DRINK more water.
- EAT....BETTER. Make better food choices and FUEL your body-start by eating breakfast. Also, SUPPLEMENT your body with the ESSENTIAL nutrients that most of our diets are lacking-mainly VITAMIN D, OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS, PROBIOTICS, and MULTI-VITAMIN. Also, make sure your vitamins are PURE, HIGH QUALITY, otherwise you have what we like to call "expensive urine." We at HealthSource of Norton are more than happy to provide you with answers to the questions you have regarding supplementation. Just ask!
- Stop SMOKING. It's on most smokers' lists-and one of the biggest reasons people go back to smoking? Weight GAIN when they quit. A friend of mine put this perfectly....so you go back to smoking just so you can fit into a SMALLER CASKET?!?! Let that soak in for a minute........
- GET YOUR ROUTINE CHECKUPS. Small fires are always easier to put out than BIG FIRES. Have your screenings done, go to your dentist (and after you do-continue to brush and floss to MAINTAIN that great oral hygiene!), and GET YOUR SPINE CHECKED! Help your body help and HEAL itself!
Happy New Year and Happy New YOU,
